Engaging Conversations for Institutions Serving Survivors

About Leah M. Forney, The Culture Doctor

Leah M. Forney is a nationally recognized speaker, strategist, and cultural practitioner working at the intersection of sexual violence prevention, trauma, and institutional accountability.

As a Black woman and survivor of sexual violence, Leah brings both lived experience and more than a decade of professional work in gender-based violence, public health, and survivor advocacy into every engagement. Her work helps institutions move beyond surface-level conversations and toward practices that actually support survivor safety, trust, and healing. Leah is known for naming what often goes unsaid and doing so in a way that invites responsibility, reflection, and action rather than defensiveness.

What These Engagements Do:

Speaking and training engagements with The Culture Doctor are designed to help institutions:

  • Examine how culture, race, history, and power shape survivor experiences

  • Identify where well-intentioned systems unintentionally cause harm

  • Build shared language around survivor-centered, culturally responsive practice

  • Move beyond compliance-driven approaches toward meaningful institutional change

These engagements are especially impactful for colleges, universities, and systems that recognize current models are falling short  and are ready to rethink how this work is approached.

Leah’s speaking style blends storytelling, lived experience, research, and real-world application to meet audiences where they are while challenging them to go further.
