Introducing
Leah M. Forney
I am dedicated to disrupting and deconstructing current sexual violence systems and rebuilding them through a survivor-centered, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and innovative lens.

I am a trailblazer in sexual violence response & recovery, trauma-informed care, cultural sensitivity, and advocacy, driven by an unwavering commitment to empowering survivors and transforming communities. As I prepare to begin my doctorate in public health, I am pioneering the development of a culturally responsive screening tool to assess sexual violence trauma before diagnosing reproductive health conditions like fibroids and endometriosis. My research aims to address critical health disparities for BIPOC women, creating a path toward more inclusive, compassionate healthcare.
As a soon-to-be licensed clinical professional counselor, I will specialize in trauma-informed therapy, dedicated to helping survivors—especially those in marginalized communities—find healing and reclaim their narratives. With over 200 media appearances on platforms such as The National Desk, ABC 7, Authority Magazine, Elle Magazine, and Huffington Post UK, I am recognized for my candid insights, expert advocacy, and commitment to addressing the intersections of trauma, cultural identity, and resilience.
My upcoming social enterprise, The Well, is designed to dismantle barriers to sexual violence education and prevention, with a strong focus on the needs of marginalized communities. Through innovative tools like my Dimensions of Safety Workbook—which addresses child-on-child sexual abuse—and the Hey Queen, Thrive! podcast, I spark essential conversations on sexual health, trauma, and empowerment. Additionally, my Courage Couture Gala—Where Fashion Meets Fearless is an empowering celebration of survivors, merging fashion with activism to envision a world free from sexual violence.
My upcoming book, What Works for Susan Won’t Work for Tameka: A Culturally Responsive Approach to Sexual Violence Prevention, offers an essential guide for practitioners, educators, and communities. It promotes a nuanced, culturally sensitive approach to supporting survivors, underscoring the importance of tailored, compassionate care.
Through my trauma-informed services, I equip organizations and institutions with the tools to foster empathy, inclusivity, and structural transformation. My impact is as profound as it is multifaceted—I am building a legacy of resilience, advocacy, and healing, empowering others to thrive in the face of adversity.
I am redefining resilience and transforming lives—one conversation, one community, and one courageous step at a time.
