The Culture Academy is a year-long, self-paced digital learning system designed for colleges, universities, and survivor-facing institutions. The Academy equips professionals who work directly with survivors of sexual violence with the knowledge, context, and frameworks needed to support survivors of color in more culturally responsive and effective ways.

The Culture Academy goes beyond general trauma-informed approaches by examining how race, culture, bias, and systemic harm shape survivor experiences and how institutional responses often fall short.

What the Culture Academy Covers

The Academy includes eight in-depth courses focused on strengthening cultural sensitivity and institutional response, including:

• Culturally informed care for survivors of sexual violence

• Sexual violence within the Black community

• Anti-Blackness and its impact on survivor support

• Credibility bias and belief gaps in sexual violence cases

• Racialized harm and institutional re-traumatization

• Common culturally insensitive mistakes institutions make

• Engaging men and boys in sexual violence response

• Building more culturally responsive systems and practices

Participants also receive access to the book:
What Works for Susan, What Works for Tameka: A Culturally Responsive Approach to Sexual Violence Prevention and Response, which serves as a foundational text for the Academy.
