                                                              What is the Independent Survivor-Led Program Evaluation?

   

  The independent survivor-led program evaluation provides organizations with an opportunity to step back and thoughtfully examine how their programs are working in practice.  As someone with more than a decade of experience in gender-based violence work and lived experience as a survivor of sexual violence and domestic violence, I approach program evaluation with a lens that centers both organizational accountability and survivor impact.

  Evaluation is not about checking boxes or producing reports that sit on a shelf. It is about helping organizations gain an understanding on how their programs are functioning, where strengths already exist, and where adjustments can be strengthen to improve the outcomes for the communities they serve.  This work is especially valuable for organizations seeking to better understand how their prevention, response, or survivor support programs are operating beyond compliance requirements.

  Each evaluation partnership is designed to provide organizations with meaningful insight into their programs while respecting the realities of survivor-serving work.  This process may include:

• Reviewing program structures, materials, and policies

• Assessing how programs align with organizational mission and community needs 

• Gathering insights from staff and stakeholders where appropriate

• Identifying strengths, gaps, and opportunities for improvement

• Providing practical recommendations that support stronger program outcomes
